Funeral Director Tony Hart runs a support group for people with Vasculitis, their family and carers. The Sussex by the Sea support group meet every couple of months in Hastings at the St. Leonards Angling Association Club on Marine Parade.
Vasculitis means ‘inflammation of the blood vessels’. The immune system attacks healthy blood vessels, causing them to become swollen and narrow eventually destroying major organs.
The cause is unknown and it can be difficult to diagnose as the manifestation of it is not totally clear and the symptoms can vary from person to person.
Working in conjunction with Vasculitis UK, which is the main UK registered National Charity representing the interests of people suffering with all forms of Vasculitis, Tony volunteers his time to run the group.
Tony said: ”It is good to talk and share, and that’s the main basis of our meetings, with the occasional guest speaker
Most sufferers feel very isolated and this group along with the Facebook page enables people to get instant answers and advice which is mainly run by those with the illness.”
